Just put them in the outfit! You may buy/get bought so many lovely outfits. Like me, you may be thinking, or have thought, let’s keep that one for a special occasion… then before you know it, they’ve grown out of it! See every day as a special occasion, put them in the outfits you love - you won’t regret seeing them in it over and over, but I can guarantee you will regret that they didn’t get enough wears out of it!

Everything’s a phase

Today we drove to see my friend who had her baby 3 weeks after me. Today I was reminded (and shown) that everything really is just a phase. A few months back, I drove to see this same friend and had to pull into a garden centre as my little boy was very unhappy. I sat and cried for about an hour and ended up going home, without seeing my friend and her little boy. Well today I drove past that same garden centre and had a little ‘yay us’ moment. This time, I made it the whole way. We didn’t have to stop - in fact he slept most of the way! We had such a lovely day. Did my little boy cry in the car on the way home? Yes he did. But this time I was more prepared for it - I sing him terribly made-up songs daily, and so I sang those same songs in the car and the crying stopped. My voice was a little hoarse by the time I got home, but we got home without needing to stop.  When you’re in the thick of it, it can be really hard to see, and hear, that everything is just a phase. Hormones

You can probably guess, if you’ve read any of my other posts, that my hormones are a bit all over the place at the moment. Before our little boy was born, I remember seeing all over social media how it takes a woman’s body 2 years to balance out again and make you feel somewhat like yourself. As if our bodies haven’t been through enough in growing a baby?! Whilst I can’t personally vouch for the 2 years yet, I can give you an insight into how I’ve felt over the last few months.  I’m not typically someone who cries much, or cried. I can absolutely be a bit sensitive and take things a little too personally at times, but I don’t express that through crying. Now, crying feels like a part of my personality! That’s definitely been something I’ve had to adjust to, and have found difficult doing. I feel like, at times, I have lost my ability to rationalise things until long after they’ve happened. Bit off more than I could chew…

So who’d have thought that having a baby would mean you can’t do everything as easily as you used to?! Yeah, I really didn’t quite understand that… for quite some time. Baby pace is a whole new level and, as I’ve said before, any form of leaving the house feels like you’re packing up your entire home (well almost)! There were so many things that I just wanted, and want, to get out and do but the reality is, it just isn’t that simple when you have a baby… and that’s ok! I’m still figuring out this new pace and will most likely continue to have moments where I bite off more than I can chew but hey, it’s all a learning curve!  I’ve learnt that being flexible, when you have a baby, is the absolute best way to be. It’s easier said than done but sometimes you’ll have to accept that what you’d planned to happen won’t always happen. Your plans will likely have to change, a lot. It will be hard to deal with.
